The Miracle of Compassionate Hands and Welcoming Hearts

"The presentation [from PCHCV] was the best I've been to in a long time. I learned to be more attuned to family and patients' symptoms and concerns -- thus more compassionate and supportive."

Center For Leadership & Learning
Improving The Quality of End-Of-Life Care

PCHCV's Center for Leadership & Learning provides healthcare professionals and the community with training, resources and education to improve end of life care. This center of excellence in end of life care provides the following extensive network of educational offerings.

Professional Education Series
Educational workshops on the medical, spiritual, social, and emotional issues faced by those with serious illnesses are available to all healthcare professionals in the Catawba Valley. Many of these offerings provide approved contact hours for nurses, social workers and nursing assistants. Featured educational seminars utilize curricula from the End Of Life Nurse Education Consortium (ELNEC).

Community Resources
The Center is a resource for all people living in the Catawba Valley area. Community Training topics include advance directives, basic hospice and palliative care services, living with a chronic illness, caregiving skills and other issues important to those living with or caring for someone with a debilitating illness.

Resource materials on a variety of topics are available from our lending library to assist anyone interested in learning more about providing patient/family-directed, quality end of life care.

If you are interested in having PCHCV present a program at your facility or group, feel free to call Education Coordinator Kim McCarter at 828/466-0466, ext. 2322, or email her at kmccarter@pchcv.org.
